About the artists

Paris sculptors; Didier Touchet & CaT have been honing their skills in molding bronze for the past several years.

Originally a wood sculptor, Didier blended his sculptor skills with his forty years of travel experience, bringing about a perfect marriage of his two passions sculpture and travel. CaT was originally clay sculptor. They have decided to merge their projects and sign their biggest achievement together like a rock band.

Their evolution into study of people and attitudes allowed them to introduce another element to this union and extend the range of their talents even further. Using mythological legends (Danaids) in a contemporary context and American western history (Sacagawea), Didier Touchet & CaT are challenging the boundaries of sculpture of the expressionist movement.

Inspiration and what they are passionate about

This is their story that they propose to you in their works. Sketches taken from places that people pay few attentions to: Bamfield British Columbia, Pendleton State of Oregon, Walla-Walla State of Washington, Council Bluffs State of Iowa, West Yellowstone State of Montana, Georgetown Washington DC. They focus on the expressions of the flesh. They seek expression and affirm the universal dimension of figures and groups. Rodin says that “The body, is a molding in which passions are imprinted. “

biggest and smallest achievements

Hebe - goddess of youth - Rachel

Hebe - goddess of youth - Rachel

Hebe was supposed to have the power to give eternal youth, and in art is typically seen with her father in the guise of an eagle, often offering a cup to him. This depiction is seen in classical engraved gems as well as later art and seems to relate to a belief that the eagle (like the phoenix) had the ability to renew itself to a youthful state.

In Greek mythology, the Danaids were the fifty daughters of Danaus. They were to marry the 50 sons of Danaus' twin brother Aegyptus, a mythical king of Egypt. All but one of them killed their husbands on their wedding night, and are condemned to spend eternity carrying water in a sieve or perforated device. They came to represent the futility of a repetitive task that can never be completed.
